Sometimes, all you need is a weekend to recharge and rediscover the magic of travel. Over the years, I have found the perfect short getaway can really feel like hitting the reset button. Here are a few of my favourite European escapes that pack beauty, charm and adventure into just a couple of days.

Prague, Czech Republic

I will never forget my first evening in Prague - walking across the Charles Bridge as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting golden hues over the city's spires. From sipping Czech beer at a riverside café to exploring Prague Castle, it is a city that feels like stepping into a storybook

Bruges, Belgium

Bruges stole my heart with its canals and cobblestone streets. I spent hours wandering the Market Square and indulging in Belgian waffles from street vendors. If you are a chocolate lover, a stop at a local chocolatier is non-negotiable - it is life changing!

Porto, Portugal

Porto is one of those cities where time slows down. I loved strolling along the Douro River with a glass of port wine in hand. The Ribeira district's colourful houses and the breath-taking view from the Dom Luis Bridge make it perfect for a relaxed weekend

Salzburg, Austria

Walking through Salzburg feels like being on a movie set, especially if you are a Sound of Music fan. I spent a morning at Mirabell Gardens and an afternoon hiking up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. The blend of history and natural beauty makes Salzburg unforgettable.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Exploring Dubrovnik's ancient walls was like stepping back in time. I spent a sunny afternoon wandering Stradun, and the fresh seafood at a seaside restaurant was the perfect ending. If you are a Game of Thrones fan, you'll feel like you're walking through the show's set

Final Thoughts:

Weekend trips can help to breakup your week and give you something to look forward to at the end of a hardworking week. If going solo, it can help you to rediscover yourself, not to mention, it gives you the perfect intro to a country, leaving the possibility for a longer break there somewhere down the line!

Happy Travelling!
